Factores contaminantes declarados por las empresas textiles en Medellin

Abstract

Textile industrial growth has played a significant role in economic stability and technological advancement in our societies. However, this expansion has gone hand in hand with considerable environmental deterioration. This negative impact on the environment has generated the need to address crucial terms such as sustainability, which is defined as the relationship between society and its environment. The research used a mixed methodology that combines quantitative and qualitative elements. The main objective is the identification of polluting factors generated by the textile industry in the city of Medellin, which impact the environment. Increasingly, companies understand that sustainability is an essential approach to their operations, as they demonstrate their commitment to the preservation of the environment. It can be concluded that the consumption of water, chemical agents, contamination of water sources and soil, as well as air pollution, among other factors that affect their industrial activity, are critical challenges for environmental sustainability. Pollution of water bodies threatens biodiversity and human health. Air pollution contributes to climate change and affects respiratory health. Soil pollution reduces fertility and can damage ecosystems. Addressing these problems is essential to protect our environment and ensure a cleaner, healthier future. Global cooperation and the implementation of sustainable solutions are essential to counteract these negative impacts, which were identified in the study.
